Matan Porat, the pianist of the group, was born in Tel Aviv, Israel, in 1981. Mathieu Herzog, the violinist, was born in Strasbourg, France, in 1985. He started playing the violin at the age of six and went on to study at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Talia Erdal, the cellist, was born in Jerusalem, Israel, in 1984. She began playing the cello at the age of seven and went on to study at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance and the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. The three musicians met while studying at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin and quickly discovered a shared passion for classical music. They formed TrioMats in 2012 and began performing together in concerts and festivals around the world. One of the highlights of TrioMats' career was their performance at the 2014 Salzburg Festival, one of the most prestigious classical music festivals in the world. The ensemble performed a program of works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Schumann to critical acclaim.
