Pavina Ivanova is a Bulgarian classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and musical interpretations. Born on May 5, 1987, in Sofia, Bulgaria, Ivanova showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of five. Her parents, both music teachers, recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Ivanova's early musical education was at the National School of Music "Lyubomir Pipkov" in Sofia, where she studied with renowned Bulgarian pianist and pedagogue, Prof. Stella Dimitrova-Maistorova. She continued her studies at the National Academy of Music "Pancho Vladigerov" in Sofia, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance under the guidance of Prof. Milena Mollova. Ivanova then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Piano Performance at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany, studying with Prof. Pierre-Laurent Aimard. Ivanova's talent and dedication to her craft quickly became evident, and she began to receive recognition for her performances. In 2005, she won first prize at the National Piano Competition "Svetoslav Obretenov" in Provadia, Bulgaria. She went on to win several other national and international competitions, including the International Piano Competition "Città di Marsala" in Italy in 2008 and the International Piano Competition "Cidade do Fundão" in Portugal in 2010. Ivanova's career as a concert pianist began to take off after she won the prestigious Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship in 2011. This award provided her with the opportunity to perform in some of the most prestigious concert halls in Europe, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and the Vienna Musikverein. She also performed as a soloist with several orchestras, including the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Plovdiv Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Cologne Chamber Orchestra. One of Ivanova's most notable performances was her debut recital at the Wigmore Hall in London in 2013. This performance received critical acclaim, with The Guardian describing her playing as "dazzling" and "mesmerizing." Ivanova's performance at the Wigmore Hall was followed by a tour of the United Kingdom, which included performances at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and the Cheltenham Music Festival. In addition to her performances as a soloist, Ivanova is also an accomplished chamber musician. She has collaborated with several renowned musicians, including violinist Daniel Hope, cellist Julian Steckel, and clarinetist Sabine Meyer. Ivanova is a member of the Trio Karénine, a piano trio that she formed with violinist Fanny Robilliard and cellist Louis Rodde. The trio has performed at several major music festivals, including the Festival de Radio France et Montpellier, the Festival de Pâques d'Aix-en-Provence, and the Festival de Musique de Menton. Ivanova's musical interpretations are characterized by their depth, sensitivity, and technical brilliance. She is known for her ability to bring out the emotional and expressive qualities of the music she plays, whether it is the fiery virtuosity of a Liszt transcription or the delicate lyricism of a Schubert sonata. Her repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing works from the Baroque to the contemporary period. Ivanova's talent and hard work have been recognized with several awards and honors.More....
