Yip Wing-Sie was born into a family of musicians, and her father was a renowned composer and conductor. Her mother was also a pianist, and her brother is a cellist. Yip Wing-Sie started playing the piano at the age of four and showed a natural talent for music. Yip Wing-Sie received her early education in Hong Kong and later went to the United States to study music.
