Ioana Cristina Goicea is a Romanian violinist who has made a name for herself in the world of classical music. Born on October 22, 1992, in Bucharest, Romania, Goicea began playing the violin at the age of four. She was born into a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a violinist. Her parents recognized her talent early on and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. Goicea began her formal music education at the George Enescu Music High School in Bucharest, where she studied with Professor Mariana Sirbu. She then went on to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria, with Professor Christian Altenburger. During her time in Vienna, Goicea also had the opportunity to study with renowned violinists such as Zakhar Bron, Ana Chumachenco, and Mihaela Martin. Goicea's talent and hard work paid off early on in her career. In 2013, she won first prize at the Andrea Postacchini International Violin Competition in Italy. This was followed by a win at the Johannes Brahms International Music Competition in Austria in 2015. These wins helped to establish Goicea as a rising star in the world of classical music. Since then, Goicea has gone on to perform at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Vienna Konzerthaus, and the Tonhalle Zurich. She has also performed with renowned orchestras such as the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, and the Romanian National Radio Orchestra. One of the highlights of Goicea's career so far was her performance at the 2017 George Enescu International Festival in Bucharest. This festival is one of the most important classical music events in the world, and Goicea was honored to be invited to perform. She played the Brahms Violin Concerto with the Romanian National Radio Orchestra, conducted by Cristian Mandeal.
