Josep Colom is a renowned Spanish classical pianist who has made a name for himself in the world of classical music. Born on May 27, 1947, in Barcelona, Spain, Colom showed an early interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. He received his first piano lessons from his mother, who was a pianist herself. Colom's talent was evident from an early age, and he quickly became recognized as a prodigy. He went on to study at the Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu in Barcelona, where he was mentored by renowned pianist Alicia de Larrocha. Colom's talent continued to flourish under de Larrocha's guidance, and he went on to win several prestigious awards, including the First Prize at the Maria Canals International Piano Competition in Barcelona in 1969.
