Period:ClassicalMaria Luisa Tamez was born on May 12, 1985, in Mexico City, Mexico. She was born into a family of musicians, and her parents were both professional classical musicians. Her father was a violinist, and her mother was a pianist. From a young age, Tamez was exposed to classical music and began to show an interest in playing the piano. Tamez began her formal music education at the age of six when she started taking piano lessons with her mother. She quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and began to excel in her studies. By the age of ten, Tamez had already won several local piano competitions and had begun to perform in public. In 1997, Tamez was accepted into the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico City, where she studied under the renowned pianist and teacher, Ana Maria Tradatti. During her time at the conservatory, Tamez continued to win numerous awards and competitions, including the National Piano Competition in 2001. After graduating from the conservatory in 2003, Tamez was awarded a scholarship to study at the Juilliard School in New York City. There, she studied under the guidance of the world-renowned pianist, Emanuel Ax. During her time at Juilliard, Tamez continued to win awards and competitions, including the Juilliard Concerto Competition in 2005. In 2006, Tamez made her debut as a soloist with the New York Philharmonic, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3. The performance was a huge success, and Tamez received critical acclaim for her virtuosic playing and musicality. This performance launched Tamez's career as a soloist, and she began to perform regularly with orchestras around the world. Over the years, Tamez has performed with some of the world's most prestigious orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. She has also collaborated with many of the world's leading conductors, including Daniel Barenboim, Simon Rattle, and Gustavo Dudamel. Tamez is also a dedicated teacher and has taught masterclasses at many of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School, the Royal Academy of Music in London, and the Conservatoire de Paris. She is currently a professor of piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.
