The ensemble is made up of four talented musicians who are all accomplished in their own right: Sarah, Emily, Rachel, and David. The idea for Tranquility Strings was born when Sarah, the group's founder and cellist, was approached by a friend who was looking for a string quartet to perform at her wedding. Sarah, who had been playing the cello since she was a child, jumped at the opportunity and quickly assembled a group of talented musicians to form Tranquility Strings. The ensemble's main members are Sarah, Emily, Rachel, and David. Sarah is the group's cellist and founder. She has a degree in music performance from the University of Michigan and has performed with several orchestras and ensembles throughout her career. Emily is the group's first violinist. She has a degree in music performance from the University of Texas and has performed with several orchestras and ensembles throughout her career. Rachel is the group's second violinist. She has a degree in music performance from the University of California, Los Angeles and has performed with several orchestras and ensembles throughout her career. David is the group's violist. He has a degree in music performance from the University of Southern California and has performed with several orchestras and ensembles throughout his career. Tranquility Strings has performed at several major events and venues throughout their career. One of their most notable performances was at the 2016 Grammy Awards, where they performed with Adele during her tribute to George Michael. The ensemble has also performed at several high-profile weddings and corporate events, including the wedding of Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan. In addition to their performances, Tranquility Strings has also received several awards and accolades throughout their career. In 2017, they were named the Best Classical Ensemble at the San Diego Music Awards. They have also been featured in several publications, including The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. Tranquility Strings is known for their unique blend of classical and contemporary music.
