Role:EnsembleB'Rock, also known as B'Rock Orchestra, is a Belgian classical music ensemble that specializes in performing Baroque and Classical music on period instruments. The orchestra was founded in 2005 by conductor and harpsichordist Frank Agsteribbe, and has since become one of the most renowned Baroque ensembles in Europe. B'Rock's journey began in Ghent, Belgium, where Frank Agsteribbe, a passionate Baroque music enthusiast, decided to form an orchestra that would perform music from the Baroque and Classical periods on period instruments. The name "B'Rock" is a play on words, combining the words "Baroque" and "rock", reflecting the orchestra's aim to bring a fresh and dynamic approach to classical music. The orchestra's debut performance took place in 2005 at the Ghent Festival of Flanders, where they performed Handel's "Water Music" to critical acclaim. This performance marked the beginning of B'Rock's rise to fame, as they quickly gained a reputation for their energetic and innovative performances. Over the years, B'Rock has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls and festivals in Europe, including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, and the Salzburg Festival. They have collaborated with some of the most renowned soloists in the world, including countertenor Philippe Jaroussky, soprano Sandrine Piau, and violinist Isabelle Faust. One of B'Rock's most notable performances was their 2012 production of Mozart's "Don Giovanni" at the Aix-en-Provence Festival. The production, directed by Dmitri Tcherniakov, received critical acclaim for its innovative staging and dynamic musical interpretation. B'Rock's performance was praised for its energy and precision, with critics noting that the orchestra brought a fresh and modern approach to Mozart's classic opera. In addition to their live performances, B'Rock has also released several recordings, including their critically acclaimed album "Bach: Harpsichord Concertos" in 2010. The album, which features Frank Agsteribbe as soloist and conductor, received widespread praise for its lively and engaging performances. B'Rock has also been recognized for their contributions to classical music, receiving several awards and nominations over the years. In 2012, they were awarded the prestigious Klara Award for Best Ensemble, and in 2014, they were nominated for a Grammy Award for their recording of Mozart's "La Clemenza di Tito" with conductor René Jacobs. Despite their success, B'Rock remains committed to their mission of bringing a fresh and dynamic approach to classical music. They continue to push the boundaries of traditional classical music, experimenting with new interpretations and collaborations to create a unique and engaging musical experience for audiences around the world.More....
