Born in Tokyo, Japan in 1987, Fukumori began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. Fukumori's parents recognized his potential and enrolled him in the Yamaha Music School, where he received rigorous training in both piano technique and music theory. He also began studying with renowned piano teacher Hiroko Nakamura, who recognized his exceptional talent and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. Fukumori's early years were marked by numerous awards and accolades, including first prize in the Japan Classical Music Competition and the Yamaha Music Foundation Scholarship. He also performed in numerous concerts and recitals throughout Japan, showcasing his prodigious talent and earning a reputation as one of the country's most promising young pianists. In 2006, Fukumori moved to the United States to attend the Juilliard School in New York City, one of the world's most prestigious music conservatories. There, he studied with renowned pianist Yoheved Kaplinsky and honed his skills as a performer and interpreter of classical music. During his time at Juilliard, Fukumori continued to win awards and accolades, including first prize in the Juilliard Concerto Competition and the Gina Bachauer Piano Scholarship. He also performed in numerous concerts and recitals throughout the United States, earning critical acclaim for his technical prowess and emotional depth. After graduating from Juilliard in 2010, Fukumori embarked on a career as a soloist and chamber musician, performing in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls and collaborating with some of the most renowned musicians of his generation. He has performed with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, and has collaborated with artists such as violinist Midori and cellist Yo-Yo Ma. Fukumori's repertoire is wide-ranging and includes works by some of the greatest composers in the classical canon, including Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff. He is particularly known for his interpretations of the music of Franz Schubert, whose works he has performed extensively and recorded on several critically acclaimed albums. In addition to his performing career, Fukumori is also a dedicated teacher and mentor to young musicians. He has taught masterclasses and given lectures at some of the world's leading music schools, including the Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, and the Tokyo University of the Arts.
