Sophie Rosa is a British classical violinist who has established herself as one of the most exciting and versatile musicians of her generation. Born in 1986 in Manchester, England, Sophie began playing the violin at the age of three and showed an early talent for the instrument. She went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where she was awarded the prestigious Gold Medal for outstanding achievement. Sophie's career as a professional musician began in earnest when she won the first prize at the 2005 Manchester International Violin Competition. This led to a series of high-profile engagements, including performances with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, the BBC Philharmonic, and the Hallé Orchestra. She has also performed as a soloist with orchestras in Europe, Asia, and North America. One of Sophie's most notable performances was at the 2010 BBC Proms, where she played the solo violin part in Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending. This performance was widely praised for its beauty and sensitivity, and helped to establish Sophie as a leading interpreter of British music. Sophie has also been recognized for her work as a chamber musician.
