The Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra is a classical music ensemble based in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1946, the orchestra has been a staple of the Philadelphia area's cultural scene for over 75 years. The orchestra was founded by a group of local musicians who wanted to create a community orchestra that would provide an opportunity for amateur and professional musicians to come together and perform classical music. The orchestra's first concert was held in 1947, and it has been performing regularly ever since. Over the years, the orchestra has had many talented musicians and conductors. Some of the most notable conductors include Dr. Reuben Blundell, who served as the orchestra's music director from 1950 to 1970, and Dr. Jack Moore, who served as music director from 1970 to 1990. The current music director is Dr. Reuben Blundell's son, Dr. William Blundell, who has been with the orchestra since 1990. The orchestra's main members are made up of both amateur and professional musicians from the Philadelphia area.
