The Aries Brass Quintet is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their unique sound and exceptional performances for over a decade. The founding members of the Aries Brass Quintet were trumpeters David Dashnaw and Kevin Cobb, horn player Rachel Drehmann, trombonist Michael Powell, and tuba player John Manning. All five musicians had impressive backgrounds in classical music, having studied at some of the most prestigious music schools in the country, including The Juilliard School, Yale University, and the Curtis Institute of Music. From the very beginning, the Aries Brass Quintet set out to create a unique sound that blended the traditional brass quintet repertoire with contemporary music and original compositions. Their goal was to push the boundaries of what was possible with brass music and to create a new and exciting experience for audiences. The quintet quickly gained a reputation for their exceptional performances, and they were soon invited to perform at some of the most prestigious venues in the country, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kennedy Center. They also performed at numerous music festivals, including the Aspen Music Festival, the Tanglewood Music Festival, and the Marlboro Music Festival. One of the highlights of the Aries Brass Quintet's career was their performance at the 2012 International Trumpet Guild Conference, where they were awarded the prestigious Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition.
