Alina Bercu is a Romanian classical pianist who has gained international recognition for her virtuosic performances and musical interpretations. Born on December 17, 1988, in Ploiești, Romania, Bercu began playing the piano at the age of four and showed exceptional talent from an early age. Bercu's musical education began at the George Enescu Music High School in Bucharest, where she studied with renowned pianist Viniciu Moroianu. She then went on to study at the National University of Music in Bucharest, where she earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in piano performance under the guidance of Professor Viniciu Moroianu and Professor Stela Drăgulin. In 2012, Bercu was awarded a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she earned her Artist Diploma in Performance under the tutelage of Professor Christopher Elton. During her time at the Royal Academy of Music, Bercu won several awards, including the prestigious Patrons Award, which is given to the most outstanding student of the year. Bercu's career as a concert pianist began to take off in 2013 when she won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Rome. This victory led to numerous concert engagements throughout Europe, including performances at the Wigmore Hall in London, the Salle Cortot in Paris, and the Konzerthaus in Berlin. In 2015, Bercu won first prize at the George Enescu International Piano Competition in Bucharest, which is one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. This victory solidified Bercu's reputation as one of the most talented young pianists of her generation and led to even more concert engagements around the world. Bercu has performed with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, and the Bucharest Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also collaborated with some of the most renowned conductors, including Vladimir Jurowski, Cristian Mandeal, and Tiberiu Soare. In addition to her concert career, Bercu is also an accomplished recording artist. Her debut album, "Sonatas and Variations," was released in 2017 and features works by Beethoven, Schumann, and Brahms. The album received critical acclaim and was praised for Bercu's technical prowess and musical sensitivity. Bercu's repertoire is vast and includes works by many of the great composers, including Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff.
