She was born on August 20, 1923, in Berlin, Germany, to a family of musicians. Her father, Eugen Jochum, was a famous conductor, and her mother, Anita Jochum, was a pianist. Veronica grew up in a musical environment and started playing the piano at a young age. Veronica's talent for music was evident from an early age, and she received her first piano lessons from her mother. She later studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin, where she was taught by renowned pianists such as Walter Gieseking and Edwin Fischer. Veronica's exceptional talent and hard work paid off, and she won several awards and prizes during her studies. After completing her studies, Veronica began her career as a concert pianist. She made her debut in 1948, performing Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3 with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of her father. This performance was a huge success, and Veronica received critical acclaim for her virtuosity and musicality.
