Rebillot's big break came in 1971 when he was hired as the musical director for the Broadway production of "Two Gentlemen of Verona." The show was a critical and commercial success, and Rebillot's work on the production earned him a Tony Award for Best Musical Direction. Following his success on Broadway, Rebillot continued to work as a composer and arranger. He collaborated with numerous artists, including Bette Midler, Carly Simon, and Harry Belafonte. He also worked on film scores, including the soundtrack for the 1978 film "The Wiz." In addition to his work as a composer and arranger, Rebillot was also a respected educator. He taught at the Manhattan School of Music and the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. He was known for his innovative teaching methods, which emphasized improvisation and creativity.
