The Oberon Trio is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2006. The trio consists of three members: violinist Friedemann Eichhorn, cellist Martin Löhr, and pianist Andrea Wiesli. The ensemble is named after the character Oberon from William Shakespeare's play "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Friedemann Eichhorn, the violinist of the Oberon Trio, was born in 1972 in Heidelberg, Germany. He began playing the violin at the age of six and went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hannover and the Juilliard School in New York. Eichhorn has won numerous awards, including first prize at the International Violin Competition in Buenos Aires and the International Fritz Kreisler Violin Competition in Vienna. Martin Löhr, the cellist of the Oberon Trio, was born in 1971 in Berlin, Germany. He began playing the cello at the age of six and went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. Löhr has won several awards, including first prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria and the International Gaspar Cassadó Cello Competition in Japan. Andrea Wiesli, the pianist of the Oberon Trio, was born in 1975 in Switzerland. She began playing the piano at the age of five and went on to study at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Zurich. Wiesli has won several awards, including first prize at the International Piano Competition in Senigallia, Italy. The Oberon Trio has performed at numerous venues around the world, including the Berlin Philharmonic, the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Tonhalle Zurich, and the Wigmore Hall in London. The ensemble has also performed at several music festivals, including the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Rheingau Music Festival, and the Lucerne Festival. One of the highlights of the Oberon Trio's career was their performance at the 2010 Beethovenfest in Bonn, Germany.
