Amy Garapic is a percussionist and composer who has made a name for herself in the world of contemporary classical music. Born in 1985 in the United States, Garapic grew up in a musical family and began playing the piano at a young age. However, it wasn't until she discovered percussion in high school that she found her true passion. Garapic went on to study percussion at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, where she earned her Bachelor of Music degree. She then went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the Yale School of Music, where she studied with renowned percussionist Robert van Sice. Throughout her career, Garapic has been recognized for her exceptional talent and dedication to her craft. In 2010, she was awarded the prestigious Fulbright Scholarship, which allowed her to study percussion in the Netherlands for a year. During her time there, she worked with some of the top percussionists in the world and gained valuable experience performing in a variety of settings. Garapic has also been the recipient of numerous other awards and honors, including the Yale School of Music's Alumni Prize and the Percussive Arts Society's International Solo Artist Competition. She has been praised for her innovative approach to percussion and her ability to push the boundaries of what is possible with the instrument. One of Garapic's most notable performances was her solo recital at the 2013 Percussive Arts Society International Convention. The convention is one of the largest percussion events in the world, and Garapic's performance was highly anticipated.
