The Goldberg Trio is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences around the world for over two decades. The trio was founded in 1998 by three talented musicians, pianist Lilia Boyadjieva, violinist Evgeni Simeonov, and cellist Yosif Radionov. The ensemble takes its name from the famous Goldberg Variations by Johann Sebastian Bach, which the trio has performed to great acclaim. Lilia Boyadjieva, the pianist of the Goldberg Trio, was born in Bulgaria and began playing the piano at the age of five. She studied at the National Music Academy in Sofia and later at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna. She has won numerous awards and competitions, including the International Piano Competition in Senigallia, Italy, and the International Piano Competition in Varna, Bulgaria. Evgeni Simeonov, the violinist of the Goldberg Trio, was born in Bulgaria and began playing the violin at the age of six. He studied at the National Music Academy in Sofia and later at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna. He has won numerous awards and competitions, including the International Violin Competition in Sion, Switzerland, and the International Violin Competition in Varna, Bulgaria. Yosif Radionov, the cellist of the Goldberg Trio, was born in Bulgaria and began playing the cello at the age of seven. He studied at the National Music Academy in Sofia and later at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna. He has won numerous awards and competitions, including the International Cello Competition in Markneukirchen, Germany, and the International Cello Competition in Varna, Bulgaria. The Goldberg Trio has performed in some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Musikverein in Vienna. The trio has also performed at numerous music festivals, including the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Lucerne Festival. One of the highlights of the Goldberg Trio's career was their performance of the complete Beethoven piano trios at the Musikverein in Vienna. The trio received a standing ovation and rave reviews from critics. The trio has also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of the Goldberg Variations by Bach. The Goldberg Trio has received numerous awards and accolades throughout their career. They were awarded the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art in 2010 and the Bulgarian Order of Stara Planina in 2015. The trio has also been named Honorary Citizens of Vienna and Honorary Professors at the National Music Academy in Sofia.
