James Austin Smith is a renowned oboist and chamber musician who has made a name for himself in the classical music world. Born in 1983 in Houston, Texas, Smith grew up in a musical family and began playing the oboe at the age of 10. He quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument and went on to study at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. After completing his studies at Interlochen, Smith went on to attend the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with John Mack, the principal oboist of the Cleveland Orchestra.
