Oslo Sinfonietta is a classical music ensemble based in Oslo, Norway. The ensemble was founded in 1987 by a group of young musicians who were passionate about contemporary classical music. The founding members included violinist Geir Inge Lotsberg, cellist Øystein Birkeland, and pianist Einar Henning Smebye. From the beginning, Oslo Sinfonietta was dedicated to performing contemporary classical music, with a particular focus on Norwegian composers.
