Upper Valley Duo is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2015 by two talented musicians, violinist Hilary Walther Cumming and pianist Fiona Milne. The duo is based in the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont, hence the name Upper Valley Duo. Hilary Walther Cumming is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and has performed with various orchestras, including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra and the New World Symphony. Fiona Milne, on the other hand, is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London and has performed in various venues across Europe and the United States. The duo's repertoire includes a wide range of classical music, from Baroque to contemporary, and they have performed in various venues across the United States, including the Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth College, the Chandler Center for the Arts in Randolph, Vermont, and the First Congregational Church in Lebanon, New Hampshire. One of the highlights of the duo's performances was their debut concert in 2015, which was held at the First Congregational Church in Lebanon, New Hampshire. The concert featured works by Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms, and was well-received by the audience. In 2016, the duo was invited to perform at the Hopkins Center for the Arts at Dartmouth College as part of the "Music in the Galleries" series. The concert featured works by Mozart, Schumann, and Debussy, and was praised for its "exquisite playing" and "beautifully balanced sound." The duo has also been recognized for their outstanding performances. In 2017, they were awarded the "Best Classical Music Performance" award by the Upper Valley Music Awards, which recognizes outstanding musicians in the Upper Valley region of New Hampshire and Vermont. In addition to their performances, the duo is also committed to music education. They have conducted masterclasses and workshops for students of all ages, and have worked with various schools and music organizations in the Upper Valley region.
