Marian Dijkhuizen is a Dutch jazz singer and composer who has made a name for herself in the world of classical music. Born on May 22, 1970, in Rotterdam, Netherlands, Dijkhuizen grew up in a musical family. Her father was a jazz pianist, and her mother was a classical singer. From a young age, Dijkhuizen was exposed to a wide range of musical genres, which helped shape her unique style. Dijkhuizen began her musical career as a classical singer, studying at the Rotterdam Conservatory. However, she soon discovered her love for jazz and began to explore this genre. She started performing in local jazz clubs and quickly gained a reputation as a talented jazz singer. In 1995, Dijkhuizen formed her own jazz quartet, which included pianist Rob van Bavel, bassist Hein van de Geyn, and drummer Hans van Oosterhout. In addition to her work as a jazz singer, Dijkhuizen is also a talented composer. She has written music for several films and television shows, including the Dutch drama series "Penoza." Her music has been praised for its emotional depth and cinematic quality. Dijkhuizen has received several awards and honors throughout her career. In 2003, she was awarded the Edison Jazz Award, one of the most prestigious music awards in the Netherlands.
