Munchen Kindersingkreis St. Wolfgang is a classical music ensemble that has been delighting audiences with their beautiful music for over 60 years. The ensemble was founded in 1959 by Sister Maria Theresia Scherrer, a music teacher at the St. Wolfgang Catholic School in Munich, Germany. Sister Maria Theresia had a passion for music and wanted to share it with her students, so she started the choir as a way to teach them about singing and performing. The choir started out with just a few students, but it quickly grew in popularity as more and more children wanted to join. Sister Maria Theresia was a talented musician and conductor, and she worked tirelessly to train the children and prepare them for performances. Under her guidance, the choir became known for their beautiful harmonies and precise singing. Over the years, the Munchen Kindersingkreis St. Wolfgang has had many talented members, but some of the most notable include Maria Schmid, who joined the choir in 1965 and went on to become a professional opera singer, and Markus Schmid, who joined in 1970 and later became a conductor. The choir has performed at many prestigious venues over the years, including the Munich Philharmonic Hall, the Bavarian State Opera, and the Salzburg Festival. They have also toured extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America, sharing their love of music with audiences around the world. One of the highlights of the choir's career was their performance at the Vatican in 1985. They were invited to sing for Pope John Paul II during a special Mass, and their performance was so moving that the Pope personally thanked them and blessed them. The Munchen Kindersingkreis St. Wolfgang has also won many awards and accolades over the years. In 1975, they were awarded the Bavarian State Prize for Music, and in 1980, they were named the Best Children's Choir in Germany. They have also won numerous international competitions, including the International Choir Competition in Budapest and the International Children's Choir Competition in Prague. Despite their many accomplishments, the choir has always remained true to their roots. They continue to perform at the St. Wolfgang Catholic School, and many of their members are still students there. Sister Maria Theresia passed away in 2010, but her legacy lives on through the choir and the countless children she inspired to love music. In conclusion, the Munchen Kindersingkreis St. Wolfgang is a truly remarkable ensemble that has brought joy and beauty to audiences around the world for over 60 years. Their dedication to music and their commitment to excellence have earned them a well-deserved place in the annals of classical music history.
