He began taking piano lessons with renowned pianist and teacher, Maria João Pires, at the age of six. Pires quickly recognized Grady's potential and became his mentor and guide throughout his musical journey. Grady's early years were spent honing his skills and developing his technique. He participated in numerous competitions and won several awards, including the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition at the age of 12. This early success propelled Grady onto the international stage and he began performing in concerts and recitals around the world. One of Grady's most notable performances was at the Carnegie Hall in New York City when he was just 16 years old. He performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5, also known as the "Emperor Concerto," with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. The performance was a huge success and cemented Grady's reputation as a rising star in the classical music world. Over the years, Grady continued to perform in concerts and recitals around the world, collaborating with some of the most renowned orchestras and conductors. He also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Chopin's complete Nocturnes.
