Role:EnsembleAccordone is a classical music ensemble that specializes in performing early music from the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The group was founded in 1984 by two Italian musicians, Marco Beasley and Guido Morini, who shared a passion for exploring the rich musical traditions of their country's past. Marco Beasley was born in Naples, Italy in 1957. He grew up in a family of musicians and began singing at a young age. He studied music at the Conservatory of Naples and later at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland. Beasley's vocal range and expressive style made him a sought-after performer in the early music scene, and he quickly gained a reputation as one of the leading interpreters of Italian Renaissance and Baroque music. Guido Morini was born in Milan, Italy in 1959. He began playing the piano at a young age and later studied harpsichord and organ at the Conservatory of Milan. Morini was drawn to early music and became interested in the historical performance practice movement, which seeks to recreate the sound and style of music from past eras using period instruments and techniques. Beasley and Morini met in the early 1980s and began performing together as a duo. They soon realized that they shared a vision for exploring the rich musical heritage of Italy and decided to form a larger ensemble. They named the group Accordone, after a type of Renaissance keyboard instrument. Accordone's early performances were focused on Italian Renaissance music, particularly the works of composers such as Claudio Monteverdi and Girolamo Frescobaldi. The group quickly gained a following in Italy and began touring internationally, performing at festivals and concert halls throughout Europe and North America. In the 1990s, Accordone expanded its repertoire to include Baroque music, particularly the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel. The group's performances were praised for their virtuosity and sensitivity to the historical context of the music. Accordone has released several acclaimed recordings, including "La Bella Noeva," a collection of Italian Renaissance songs, and "La Tarantella," which explores the music and dance traditions of southern Italy. The group's recordings have won numerous awards, including the prestigious Diapason d'Or and the Choc de l'année. Accordone has also collaborated with other musicians and ensembles, including the French early music group Les Arts Florissants and the Italian jazz pianist Stefano Bollani. These collaborations have allowed the group to explore new musical territories and expand its audience. In addition to its performances and recordings, Accordone is committed to music education and outreach. The group has conducted workshops and masterclasses for students and young musicians, and has worked with community organizations to bring early music to underserved audiences. Accordone's legacy as one of the leading ensembles in the early music scene is a testament to the vision and talent of its founders, Marco Beasley and Guido Morini. Their dedication to exploring the rich musical heritage of Italy and bringing it to audiences around the world has inspired countless musicians and music lovers.More....
