He was raised in a family of musicians, with his father being a well-known composer and his mother a singer. This early exposure to music helped to shape Izquierdo's passion for the guitar and set him on the path to becoming a world-class musician. Izquierdo's formal training began at the National School of Art in Havana, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned guitarist and composer Leo Brouwer. Brouwer recognized Izquierdo's talent early on and took him under his wing, providing him with the guidance and support he needed to develop his skills as a guitarist. After completing his studies at the National School of Art, Izquierdo went on to earn a degree in guitar performance from the Higher Institute of Art in Havana. In 1997, Izquierdo made the decision to leave Cuba and move to the United States in pursuit of greater opportunities as a musician. He settled in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he began to establish himself as a performer and teacher. He quickly gained a reputation as one of the top classical guitarists in the region, and his performances were praised for their technical precision and emotional depth. He has also collaborated with some of the most renowned musicians in the classical music world, including the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Pro Arte Quartet.
