Samuel Lifschey was born on May 15, 1985, in New York City. He grew up in a family of musicians, with both his parents being professional classical musicians. His father was a cellist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Lifschey was exposed to classical music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Lifschey's parents recognized his talent early on and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began taking piano lessons with his mother and quickly progressed. By the age of ten, he was already performing in public and winning competitions. In 1997, Lifschey was accepted into the Juilliard School's Pre-College Division, where he studied with renowned pianist Yoheved Kaplinsky. In 2003, he won first prize in the International Piano Competition in Paris, France.
