Komorní Filharmonie Pardubice is a classical music ensemble based in the Czech Republic. The ensemble was founded in 1969 by a group of musicians who were passionate about chamber music. The founding members included violinist Jan Talich, cellist Petr Prause, and pianist Ivan Klánský. Over the years, the ensemble has undergone several changes in its membership, but it has always maintained its commitment to performing chamber music at the highest level. Today, the ensemble is made up of some of the most talented musicians in the Czech Republic, including violinist Pavel Šporcl, cellist Tomáš Jamník, and pianist Ivo Kahánek. One of the highlights of the ensemble's early years was its performance at the Prague Spring International Music Festival in 1972. The ensemble's performance was well-received by both the audience and the critics, and it helped to establish the ensemble's reputation as one of the leading chamber music ensembles in the Czech Republic. In the years that followed, the ensemble continued to perform at major music festivals and concert halls throughout Europe and the United States. Some of the ensemble's most notable performances include its appearance at the Salzburg Festival in 1980, its performance at the Lincoln Center in New York in 1982, and its performance at the Edinburgh Festival in 1990. In addition to its performances, the ensemble has also received numerous awards and accolades for its recordings. The ensemble's recording of Dvořák's Piano Quintet in A Major, Op. 81, was awarded the Grand Prix du Disque in 1983, and its recording of Smetana's String Quartet No. 1 in E Minor, "From My Life," was awarded the Diapason d'Or in 1992. Despite its many achievements, the ensemble has remained committed to its mission of promoting chamber music and supporting young musicians. The ensemble regularly performs with young soloists and chamber groups, and it has established a scholarship program to support young musicians who are pursuing careers in classical music. Today, Komorní Filharmonie Pardubice continues to be one of the leading chamber music ensembles in the Czech Republic. Its commitment to excellence and its dedication to promoting chamber music have made it a beloved institution among classical music lovers around the world.
