He was born into a family of musicians, and his father, Eduardo Sainz de la Maza Sr., was a renowned guitarist and composer. Eduardo Sainz de la Maza Jr. grew up in a musical environment and started playing the guitar at a young age. Sainz de la Maza studied music at the Madrid Conservatory, where he was taught by the famous Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo.
