Camerata Musica is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 1952 in Salzburg, Austria. The ensemble was established by a group of musicians who were passionate about chamber music and wanted to create a platform for the performance of this genre of music. The founding members of the ensemble included the violinist Sándor Végh, the cellist Paul Szabo, and the pianist Lili Kraus. The ensemble's early performances were held in the Mozarteum in Salzburg, and they quickly gained a reputation for their high-quality performances. The ensemble has also collaborated with many renowned musicians, including the pianist Alfred Brendel, the violinist Gidon Kremer, and the cellist Yo-Yo Ma. One of the highlights of Camerata Musica's career was their performance at the Salzburg Festival in 1967. The ensemble performed Mozart's Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor, K. 478, with the pianist Alfred Brendel. The performance was a huge success, and it helped to establish Camerata Musica as one of the leading chamber music ensembles in the world. Camerata Musica has also received many awards and accolades over the years. In 1982, the ensemble was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honour for Science and Art, and in 1992, they received the Salzburg Mozart Medal.
