Born in New York City in 1969, Cooperstock began playing the piano at the age of four and showed exceptional talent from a young age. He went on to study at the Juilliard School, where he earned his Bachelor of Music degree, and later at the Peabody Conservatory, where he received his Master of Music degree. Cooperstock's career as a performer began in earnest in the early 1990s, when he won several prestigious competitions, including the Joanna Hodges International Piano Competition and the Artists International Auditions. These early successes helped to establish him as a rising star in the classical music world, and he quickly began to receive invitations to perform at major venues and festivals around the world. One of Cooperstock's most notable early performances was at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., where he played a solo recital as part of the Millennium Stage series. The concert was well-received by both critics and audiences, and helped to cement Cooperstock's reputation as a virtuoso pianist with a deep understanding of the classical repertoire. Over the years, Cooperstock has continued to perform at major venues and festivals around the world, including the Aspen Music Festival, the Chautauqua Institution, and the Gilmore Keyboard Festival. He has also collaborated with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. In addition to his work as a performer, Cooperstock is also a highly respected teacher and scholar. He has taught at the University of Colorado Boulder since 2000, and has also held teaching positions at the Peabody Conservatory and the University of Maryland. He is the author of several scholarly articles and has given numerous lectures and masterclasses on the piano repertoire. Cooperstock's many accomplishments have earned him numerous awards and honors over the years. In 2003, he was awarded the prestigious Pro Musicis International Award, which recognizes outstanding musicians who are committed to using their talents to benefit society. He has also been a recipient of the University of Colorado Boulder's Faculty Excellence Award and the Boulder County Arts Alliance's Artist of the Year Award. Despite his many achievements, Cooperstock remains committed to his craft and to sharing his love of classical music with others. He continues to perform regularly, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician, and is widely regarded as one of the most talented and versatile pianists of his generation.More....
