Trio Atanassov is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2007 in Paris, France. The trio consists of three members: violinist Sergey Malov, cellist Yovan Markovitch, and pianist Pierre-Kaloyann Atanassov. The ensemble is named after its pianist, who is also the founder and artistic director of the group. Pierre-Kaloyann Atanassov was born in Bulgaria and began playing the piano at the age of five. He later studied at the National Conservatory of Music in Sofia and the Paris Conservatory, where he won several awards and distinctions. Atanassov has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in many prestigious venues around the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Salle Pleyel in Paris. Sergey Malov was born in Russia and began playing the violin at the age of six. He later studied at the Moscow Conservatory and the Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler in Berlin. Malov is known for his versatility as a musician, as he also plays the viola, the baroque violin, and the violoncello da spalla. He has won several international competitions and has performed with many renowned orchestras and conductors. Yovan Markovitch was born in France and began playing the cello at the age of six. He later studied at the Paris Conservatory and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich. Markovitch has won several awards and distinctions, including the first prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria. He has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in many prestigious venues around the world. The three musicians met while studying at the Paris Conservatory and decided to form a trio in 2007. They quickly gained recognition for their exceptional musicality and technical skills, as well as their ability to communicate and collaborate effectively on stage. The trio's repertoire includes works by classical and contemporary composers, as well as lesser-known pieces that they have discovered and championed. One of the highlights of Trio Atanassov's career was their performance at the 2010 International Chamber Music Competition in Osaka, Japan. The trio won first prize in the piano trio category, as well as the special prize for the best performance of a contemporary work. This achievement brought them international recognition and led to many invitations to perform in prestigious venues and festivals around the world. Since then, Trio Atanassov has performed in many renowned concert halls, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. They have also been invited to perform at festivals such as the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Germany, the Festival de Radio France et Montpellier in France, and the Festival Internacional de Música de Cámara de Aguascalientes in Mexico. In addition to their performances, Trio Atanassov is also committed to education and outreach. They have given masterclasses and workshops in many countries, including France, Germany, Japan, and Mexico. They are also involved in several projects that aim to promote classical music to a wider audience, such as the "Music for Autism" program in the United States. Trio Atanassov has released several recordings, including their debut album "Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninov, Arensky" in 2011, which received critical acclaim. Their most recent album, "Brahms: Piano Trios," was released in 2020 and features the complete piano trios of Johannes Brahms.
