He was the youngest of three children and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist, which meant that Kiyoshi was exposed to music from a very young age. Kiyoshi's parents recognized his musical talent early on and encouraged him to pursue a career in music. He began playing the piano at the age of four and showed a natural aptitude for the instrument. By the time he was six years old, he was already performing in public concerts. Kiyoshi's musical education continued throughout his childhood, and he studied under some of the most renowned piano teachers in Japan. He also had the opportunity to study abroad in Europe, where he was exposed to a wider range of musical styles and techniques. In 1941, Kiyoshi made his debut as a professional pianist, performing with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. This performance was a huge success, and it marked the beginning of Kiyoshi's career as a soloist. Over the next few years, Kiyoshi continued to perform in concerts throughout Japan, and he quickly gained a reputation as one of the country's most talented pianists.
