Angelo Cicillini was a renowned classical music artist who was born on May 12, 1950, in Rome, Italy. He was the youngest of three children born to his parents, who were both musicians. His father was a violinist, and his mother was a pianist. From a young age, Cicillini was exposed to music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Cicillini's talent for music was evident from an early age, and he began studying at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome when he was just six years old. He studied under some of the most renowned music teachers in Italy, including Sergio Perticaroli and Guido Agosti. Cicillini's dedication to his craft was evident, and he quickly became one of the most promising young musicians in Italy. In 1967, Cicillini won first prize in the prestigious Busoni Piano Competition, which was held in Bolzano, Italy. This was a major achievement for the young musician, and it helped to launch his career as a professional pianist. Over the next few years, Cicillini performed in some of the most prestigious concert halls in Europe, including the Royal Albert Hall in London and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. In 1972, Cicillini moved to the United States to further his career. He settled in New York City and began performing regularly at Carnegie Hall and other major concert venues. Cicillini's career continued to flourish throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He taught at the Juilliard School in New York City for many years, and he also gave masterclasses and workshops around the world. Throughout his career, Cicillini received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to classical music. In 1983, he was awarded the prestigious Avery Fisher Prize, which is given annually to outstanding classical musicians in the United States.
