Brian Kilgore is a renowned percussionist and composer in the world of classical music. Born on August 22, 1971, in Los Angeles, California, Kilgore grew up in a family of musicians. His father was a jazz pianist, and his mother was a singer. Kilgore started playing the drums at the age of three and was already performing in public by the time he was six. Kilgore's early musical education was heavily influenced by his father's love of jazz. However, he soon discovered a passion for classical music and began studying percussion at the age of 12. He attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts, where he received a solid foundation in classical music theory and performance. After high school, Kilgore attended the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music, where he earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Percussion Performance. While at USC, Kilgore studied with some of the most respected percussionists in the world, including Mitchell Peters, Erik Forrester, and John Beck. He began performing with some of the most prestigious orchestras in the country, including the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the San Francisco Symphony, and the New York Philharmonic. Kilgore's performances were praised for their technical precision and emotional depth. In addition to his work as a performer, Kilgore is also an accomplished composer. He has written music for a variety of ensembles, including orchestras, chamber groups, and solo performers.
