Amy Oyler was born on May 12, 1985, in New York City. She grew up in a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Amy showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. As a child, Amy was homeschooled and spent much of her time practicing the piano. She also studied music theory and composition, and by the age of 12, she had already composed several pieces of her own. Her parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. At the age of 16, Amy was accepted into the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied under the renowned pianist, Yoheved Kaplinsky. During her time at Juilliard, Amy won several awards and competitions, including the Juilliard Concerto Competition and the Gina Bachauer Piano Competition. After graduating from Juilliard, Amy continued her studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where she studied under the pianist, Gary Graffman. While at Curtis, Amy won the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, which is awarded to outstanding young musicians who show exceptional talent and promise. Amy's career as a concert pianist began to take off after she won the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009. The competition, which is held every four years, is one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. Amy's performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 3 in the final round of the competition was hailed as one of the greatest performances in the history of the competition. Following her win at the Van Cliburn Competition, Amy began to receive invitations to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the London Symphony Orchestra. She also began to record extensively, releasing several critically acclaimed albums of solo piano music. One of the highlights of Amy's career was her performance at the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway. She was invited to perform alongside other world-renowned musicians, including Sting, Ne-Yo, and Jennifer Hudson. Her performance of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" received a standing ovation from the audience and was broadcast to millions of people around the world. In addition to her career as a concert pianist, Amy is also a dedicated teacher and mentor.
