Artist Info
Adam Green is a renowned American singer-songwriter, musician, and filmmaker who has made a significant impact on the world of classical music. Born on May 28, 1981, in Mount Kisco, New York, Green grew up in a family of artists and musicians. His father was a sculptor, and his mother was a painter, and they encouraged him to pursue his passion for music from a young age. Green's interest in music began when he was just a child. He started playing the guitar at the age of eight and began writing his own songs soon after. He was heavily influenced by the music of Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Lou Reed, and he began performing in local coffee shops and clubs when he was still in high school. After graduating from high school, Green attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied film. While at NYU, he formed the band The Moldy Peaches with his friend Kimya Dawson. The Moldy Peaches quickly gained a following in the New York City music scene, and their quirky, lo-fi sound and irreverent lyrics made them a favorite among indie music fans. In 2001, The Moldy Peaches released their self-titled debut album, which was a critical and commercial success. The album featured the hit single "Anyone Else But You," which was later covered by the indie folk duo, The Lumineers, and featured in the hit movie, Juno. The success of The Moldy Peaches helped to establish Green as a rising star in the indie music world. After The Moldy Peaches disbanded in 2004, Green embarked on a solo career. He released his debut solo album, "Garfield," in 2002, which was followed by "Friends of Mine" in 2003. Both albums were well-received by critics and helped to establish Green as a solo artist. In 2005, Green released his third album, "Gemstones," which was a departure from his earlier work. The album featured a more polished sound and showcased Green's growing interest in classical music. The album was a critical success and helped to establish Green as a serious musician and composer. In 2006, Green released his fourth album, "Jacket Full of Danger," which featured a more experimental sound and showcased Green's growing interest in avant-garde music. The album was a critical success and helped to establish Green as a boundary-pushing artist. In 2008, Green released his fifth album, "Sixes & Sevens," which was a return to his earlier, more straightforward sound. The album featured the hit single "Morning After Midnight," which was a commercial success and helped to establish Green as a mainstream artist. In addition to his music career, Green has also made a name for himself as a filmmaker. He has directed several music videos and short films, including "Adam Green's Aladdin," a feature-length film that he wrote, directed, and starred in. The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2016 and was well-received by critics. Throughout his career, Green has received numerous awards and accolades for his music and filmmaking. In 2002, The Moldy Peaches won the Shortlist Music Prize for their debut album. In 2005, Green was named one of the "50 Coolest People in Rock" by NME magazine. In 2010, he won the Independent Music Award for Best Indie/Alternative Album for his album "Minor Love." Green's music has been praised for its wit, humor, and intelligence, as well as its willingness to experiment with different genres and styles.More....
