He was the son of a music teacher and grew up in a family that was passionate about music. From a young age, Llambias showed a keen interest in music and began playing the piano at the age of six. Llambias received his formal music education at the National Conservatory of Music in Buenos Aires, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist and composer, Vicente Scaramuzza. Scaramuzza was known for his strict teaching methods and Llambias was one of his most talented students. Under Scaramuzza's guidance, Llambias developed a deep understanding of music theory and technique, which would serve him well throughout his career. In 1958, Llambias won first prize in the National Piano Competition in Argentina, which marked the beginning of his professional career as a classical pianist. He went on to perform in numerous concerts and recitals throughout Argentina, earning critical acclaim for his virtuosity and musicality. In 1962, Llambias moved to Europe to further his musical education and career. He studied at the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna, Austria, under the guidance of Bruno Seidlhofer, a renowned piano teacher and conductor. Llambias also studied with other notable pianists, including Friedrich Gulda and Paul Badura-Skoda. During his time in Europe, Llambias performed in numerous concerts and recitals, earning a reputation as one of the most talented pianists of his generation. He also won several awards, including first prize in the International Piano Competition in Geneva, Switzerland, in 1964. Llambias' career continued to flourish throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He performed in concerts and recitals all over the world, including in the United States, Japan, and Australia. He also recorded several albums, including a critically acclaimed recording of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 with the London Symphony Orchestra. In addition to his career as a performer, Llambias was also a respected music educator. He taught at several prestigious music schools, including the Hochschule für Musik in Vienna and the Conservatory of Music in Buenos Aires. He was known for his rigorous teaching methods and his ability to inspire his students to achieve their full potential. Llambias' contributions to the world of classical music were recognized with numerous awards and honors. In 1985, he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, one of the country's highest honors. He was also awarded the Konex Award, one of the most prestigious awards in Argentina, in recognition of his contributions to the arts. Despite his many accomplishments, Llambias remained humble and dedicated to his craft throughout his life. He continued to perform and teach until his death on December 31, 2008, at the age of 71.
