Artist Info
Emil Ponorski was born on May 12, 1985, in Warsaw, Poland. He grew up in a family of musicians, with his father being a renowned pianist and his mother a violinist. From a young age, Emil showed a natural talent for music and began playing the piano at the age of four. Emil's parents recognized his potential and enrolled him in the Frederic Chopin Music School in Warsaw. He quickly excelled in his studies and began performing in local concerts and competitions. At the age of 12, Emil won first prize in the National Piano Competition for Young Musicians, which marked the beginning of his professional career. Emil continued his studies at the Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, where he received a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance. He then went on to pursue a Master's degree at the Juilliard School in New York City, where he studied under the guidance of renowned pianist Emanuel Ax. During his time at Juilliard, Emil gained international recognition for his exceptional talent and was invited to perform at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonic. He also won several awards, including the Juilliard Concerto Competition and the International Piano Competition in Warsaw. Emil's performances were praised for their technical precision and emotional depth. He was known for his ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of each piece he played, whether it was a classical sonata or a contemporary composition. One of Emil's most memorable performances was his rendition of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra. The concert was held in honor of Chopin's 200th birthday and was broadcast live on national television. Emil's performance was met with a standing ovation and critical acclaim. In addition to his solo performances, Emil was also a sought-after collaborator and chamber musician. He frequently performed with other musicians, including his mother, who he often played duets with. Tragically, Emil's promising career was cut short when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at the age of 28. Despite undergoing extensive treatment, Emil passed away in 2014. Emil's legacy lives on through his recordings and the memories of those who were fortunate enough to hear him play. He was a true virtuoso and a passionate advocate for classical music, and his contributions to the world of music will not be forgotten.More....
