Role:EnsemblePeriod:ModernGenre:ChamberKeyboardDuo Capriccioso is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2012 by two talented musicians, violinist Katarina Kostić and pianist Milica Bajić. The duo has gained recognition for their exceptional performances and unique interpretations of classical music pieces. Katarina Kostić was born in Belgrade, Serbia, and began playing the violin at the age of six. She studied at the Music Academy in Belgrade and later at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria. Milica Bajić, also from Belgrade, started playing the piano at the age of five and went on to study at the Music Academy in Belgrade and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria. The two musicians met while studying in Vienna and quickly discovered their shared passion for classical music. They began performing together and soon realized that they had a special chemistry that allowed them to create beautiful and unique interpretations of classical music pieces. In 2012, Kostić and Bajić officially formed Duo Capriccioso and began performing together regularly. Their first major performance was at the Belgrade Philharmonic Hall, where they received critical acclaim for their performance of Beethoven's Sonata No. 9 in A Major, Op. 47, also known as the "Kreutzer Sonata." Since then, Duo Capriccioso has performed at numerous prestigious venues and festivals around the world, including the Vienna Musikverein, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Salzburg Festival, and the Carnegie Hall in New York City. They have also collaborated with many renowned musicians, including cellist Mischa Maisky and pianist Martha Argerich. One of the highlights of Duo Capriccioso's career was their performance at the 2014 International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, Russia. They were the only duo to compete in the chamber music category and received the highest score from the jury, earning them a spot in the finals. Although they did not win the competition, their performance was widely praised and helped to establish them as one of the most promising young classical music ensembles in the world. Duo Capriccioso has also received numerous awards and accolades for their performances and recordings. In 2015, they won the prestigious Echo Klassik award for their album "Brahms: The Violin Sonatas," which was praised for its "intense and passionate" interpretation of Brahms' music. They have also been nominated for several other awards, including the Gramophone Classical Music Award and the International Classical Music Award. In addition to their performances and recordings, Duo Capriccioso is also committed to promoting classical music to a wider audience. They have participated in numerous educational programs and outreach initiatives, including workshops and masterclasses for young musicians and performances in schools and community centers. Overall, Duo Capriccioso is a talented and dynamic classical music ensemble that has made a significant impact on the classical music world. With their unique interpretations and passionate performances, they have earned a reputation as one of the most exciting and innovative young ensembles in the world today.More....
