Julia van Leer-Studebaker was born on May 12, 1985, in Vienna, Austria. She was born into a family of musicians, with her mother being a pianist and her father a cellist. From a young age, Julia showed a keen interest in music and began taking piano lessons at the age of four. Julia's parents recognized her talent and encouraged her to pursue a career in music. She attended the Vienna Conservatory of Music, where she studied piano under the tutelage of renowned pianist, Maria João Pires.
