Born on May 3, 1988, in Edinburgh, Scotland, Morison grew up in a musical family. Her mother was a music teacher, and her father played the bagpipes. Morison began singing at a young age and showed a natural talent for it. Morison attended the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she studied under Kathleen McKellar Ferguson. She graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree in 2010 and went on to pursue a Master of Music degree at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München in Germany. During her time in Germany, Morison studied under Angelika Kirchschlager and graduated with honors in 2013. Morison's career began to take off in 2017 when she won the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition. This prestigious competition is held every two years and is considered one of the most important competitions for young opera singers. Morison was the first British singer to win the competition in 20 years. Following her win at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition, Morison began to receive invitations to perform at major opera houses around the world. In 2018, she made her debut at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera in the role of Rosina in Rossini's "Il barbiere di Siviglia." She also made her debut at the Royal Opera House in London in the role of Annio in Mozart's "La clemenza di Tito." Morison has also performed at the Salzburg Festival, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Deutsche Oper Berlin. She has worked with some of the most renowned conductors in the world, including Sir Simon Rattle, Daniel Harding, and Sir John Eliot Gardiner. In addition to her work on the opera stage, Morison is also a sought-after concert performer. She has performed with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, and the Munich Philharmonic, among others. She has also recorded several albums, including "Perpetual Twilight," which features works by Schubert, Schumann, and Brahms. Morison's talent has been recognized with several awards and honors.
