Born in the United Kingdom, Teale began her musical journey at a young age and has since become a highly respected performer, recording artist, and educator. Teale was born in 1983 in the town of Bury St Edmunds, located in the county of Suffolk in England. She grew up in a musical family, with both of her parents being professional musicians. Her father was a cellist, while her mother was a pianist and music teacher. From a young age, Teale was exposed to a wide range of musical genres and instruments, and she quickly developed a love for classical music. Teale began playing the oboe at the age of nine, and it quickly became her instrument of choice. She was a natural talent, and her parents encouraged her to pursue her passion for music. Teale began taking lessons with a local oboe teacher, and she quickly progressed, winning several local competitions and awards. In 1999, Teale was accepted into the prestigious Purcell School of Music in London, where she studied under the guidance of renowned oboist Tess Miller. During her time at the school, Teale honed her skills and developed a deep understanding of the oboe and its repertoire. She also had the opportunity to perform in a variety of settings, including orchestras, chamber ensembles, and solo recitals. After graduating from the Purcell School in 2001, Teale went on to study at the Royal Academy of Music in London. There, she studied with some of the most respected oboists in the world, including John Anderson and Christopher Cowie. She also had the opportunity to perform with the Academy's orchestras and chamber ensembles, further developing her skills as a performer. Teale's talent and hard work paid off, and she began to gain recognition as one of the most promising young oboists of her generation. In 2004, she won the prestigious Royal Overseas League Music Competition, which helped to launch her career as a soloist. She also won the Yamaha Music Foundation of Europe Scholarship, which allowed her to study with renowned oboist Maurice Bourgue in Paris. Since then, Teale has gone on to perform with some of the world's leading orchestras and ensembles, including the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Academy of St Martin in the Fields. She has also performed as a soloist in venues around the world, including the Royal Albert Hall in London, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Shanghai Oriental Art Center. Teale is also an accomplished recording artist, having released several critically acclaimed albums. Her debut album, "Fantasia," was released in 2008 and featured works by Mozart, Britten, and Schumann. Her second album, "Oboe Muse," was released in 2012 and featured works by Bach, Handel, and Telemann. Her most recent album, "The English Oboe," was released in 2018 and features works by British composers such as Vaughan Williams, Britten, and Howells. In addition to her performing and recording career, Teale is also a dedicated educator. She has taught at several prestigious music schools, including the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.
