Artist Info
Edward Green is a classical music ensemble that was founded in 2005 by a group of talented musicians who shared a passion for chamber music. The ensemble is named after the famous English composer Edward Elgar and the color green, which represents growth, harmony, and balance. The founding members of Edward Green were violinist Sarah Lee, cellist David Kim, and pianist Emily Chen. They were all graduates of prestigious music schools and had performed with various orchestras and ensembles before coming together to form Edward Green. From the beginning, Edward Green was committed to exploring the rich and diverse repertoire of chamber music, from the Baroque era to contemporary works. The ensemble's performances were characterized by their technical precision, expressive interpretation, and dynamic interplay between the musicians. One of the highlights of Edward Green's early career was their performance at the 2006 Chamber Music America Conference in New York City. The ensemble received rave reviews for their performance of works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Dvorak, and they were soon invited to perform at other prestigious venues and festivals across the country. Over the years, Edward Green has expanded its repertoire to include works by lesser-known composers and contemporary composers. The ensemble has also collaborated with other musicians and artists, including dancers, poets, and visual artists, to create innovative and interdisciplinary performances. In 2010, Edward Green released their debut album, "Echoes of the Past," which featured works by Bach, Mozart, and Schubert. The album received critical acclaim and was nominated for several awards, including a Grammy Award for Best Chamber Music Performance. Since then, Edward Green has released several more albums, including "New Horizons" (2013), which featured works by contemporary composers, and "Classical Gems" (2017), which included lesser-known works by composers such as Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn. In addition to their recordings, Edward Green has continued to perform at major venues and festivals around the world. Some of their most notable performances include their appearance at the 2014 BBC Proms in London, where they performed works by Elgar and Vaughan Williams, and their performance at the 2016 Salzburg Festival, where they premiered a new work by Austrian composer Wolfgang Rihm. Throughout their career, Edward Green has received numerous awards and accolades for their performances and recordings. In addition to their Grammy nomination, the ensemble has won several Chamber Music America awards, including the prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award in 2012. Today, Edward Green continues to be one of the most respected and innovative chamber music ensembles in the world. The ensemble's commitment to exploring new repertoire and collaborating with other artists has helped to expand the boundaries of classical music and inspire new generations of musicians and audiences.More....
