Quartetto di Cremona is a renowned classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their exceptional performances for over a decade. The quartet comprises of Cristiano Gualco (violin), Paolo Andreoli (violin), Simone Gramaglia (viola), and Giovanni Scaglione (cello). The group was formed in 2000 in Cremona, Italy, a city that is famous for its rich musical heritage and for being the birthplace of some of the world's greatest violin makers. The members of Quartetto di Cremona all come from musical families and have been playing their respective instruments since a young age. They all received their formal training at the prestigious Walter Stauffer Academy in Cremona, where they honed their skills under the guidance of some of the most renowned musicians in the world. The quartet's first major breakthrough came in 2005 when they won the prestigious Paolo Borciani International String Quartet Competition in Italy. This win catapulted them into the international spotlight and opened up numerous opportunities for them to perform at some of the world's most prestigious concert halls. Since then, Quartetto di Cremona has gone on to perform at some of the most renowned venues in the world, including the Wigmore Hall in London, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Konzerthaus in Vienna, and the Carnegie Hall in New York. They have also collaborated with some of the world's most celebrated musicians, including pianist Andrea Lucchesini and cellist Mario Brunello. One of the quartet's most notable performances was their rendition of Beethoven's complete string quartets, which they performed over the course of three concerts at the Wigmore Hall in London in 2015. The performances were met with critical acclaim, with The Guardian describing them as "a performance of rare distinction." In addition to their performances, Quartetto di Cremona has also released several highly acclaimed recordings. Their debut album, featuring works by Haydn and Schubert, was released in 2008 and was met with widespread critical acclaim. Since then, they have released several more albums, including a recording of Beethoven's complete string quartets, which was released in 2017 to great critical acclaim. Quartetto di Cremona has received numerous awards and accolades throughout their career. In addition to their win at the Paolo Borciani International String Quartet Competition, they have also won the prestigious Franco Buitoni Award and the Abbiati Prize, which is awarded by the Italian National Association of Music Critics.
