Nulens received his formal music education at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven, Belgium, where he studied under the tutelage of renowned pianist Jan Vermeulen. He graduated with honors in 2007 and went on to pursue a Master's degree in piano performance at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Throughout his career, Nulens has been recognized for his exceptional talent and has won numerous awards and accolades. In 2005, he won first prize at the International Piano Competition in Ettlingen, Germany, and in 2007, he was awarded the prestigious Prix de Piano from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Nulens has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America, and has collaborated with some of the world's leading orchestras and conductors. He has performed at some of the most prestigious concert halls in the world, including Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Albert Hall in London, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. One of Nulens' most notable performances was his debut with the Brussels Philharmonic Orchestra in 2009, where he performed Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5.
