Kiandra Howarth is a young and talented Australian soprano who has been making waves in the classical music world. Born on May 7, 1994, in the small town of Bega, New South Wales, Howarth grew up in a musical family. Her mother was a music teacher, and her father played the guitar and sang in a band. From a young age, Howarth showed a natural talent for singing, and her parents encouraged her to pursue her passion. Howarth began her formal music education at the age of eight, when she started taking singing lessons with local teacher, Lynne Collins. She quickly progressed and began performing in local concerts and competitions. At the age of 12, she won the prestigious Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald's Operatic Aria competition, which launched her career as a professional singer. This award gave her the opportunity to perform in the Bel Canto Spectacular concert at the Sydney Opera House, alongside some of Australia's most renowned opera singers. Since then, Howarth has performed in numerous concerts and operas both in Australia and internationally. In 2015, she made her debut with Opera Australia, playing the role of Papagena in Mozart's The Magic Flute. She has also performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, and the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra. One of Howarth's most notable performances was in 2017, when she played the role of Susanna in Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera in the UK. Her performance was widely praised by critics, with The Guardian describing her as "a standout performer, with a voice that is both pure and powerful." In addition to her performances, Howarth has also received numerous awards and accolades throughout her career. In 2016, she was awarded the Opera Foundation Australia's Armstrong-Martin Scholarship, which allowed her to travel to London to study with renowned soprano, Yvonne Kenny. She was also a finalist in the prestigious BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition in 2017. Despite her success, Howarth remains humble and dedicated to her craft.
