The founding members of the ensemble were violinist Zeneba Bowers, violist Matt Walker, cellist Matt Walker, and pianist Melissa Rose. The ensemble's name, ALIAS, stands for "A Living, Breathing, Interactive, Authentic, and Spontaneous" chamber ensemble.
