Kyung-Ah Noh is a renowned classical pianist who has captivated audiences around the world with her virtuosic performances and deep musicality. Born in Seoul, South Korea in 1975, Noh began playing the piano at the age of four and quickly showed a natural talent for the instrument. She studied at the Yewon School and the Seoul Arts High School before moving to the United States to continue her education. Noh attended the Juilliard School in New York City, where she studied with the legendary pianist and teacher Yoheved Kaplinsky. She also studied with Robert McDonald and Emanuel Ax, both of whom had a profound influence on her musical development. Noh graduated from Juilliard with a Bachelor of Music degree in 1997 and a Master of Music degree in 1999. After completing her studies, Noh embarked on a successful career as a concert pianist, performing in major venues around the world. She has appeared as a soloist with many of the world's leading orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, and the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. She has also given recitals at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center, the Royal Albert Hall, and the Suntory Hall. Noh's performances have been praised for their technical brilliance, emotional depth, and interpretive insight. She is known for her ability to bring out the nuances and subtleties of the music she plays, and for her ability to connect with audiences on a deep emotional level. Her repertoire is wide-ranging, encompassing works by composers from Bach to contemporary composers such as John Adams and Thomas Adès. In addition to her performing career, Noh is also a dedicated teacher. She has taught at the Juilliard School, the Manhattan School of Music, and the Seoul National University, among other institutions. She is known for her ability to inspire and motivate her students, and for her commitment to helping them develop their own unique musical voices. Noh has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career. In 1994, she won first prize at the Ewha-Kyunghyang Competition in Seoul. In 1997, she was a finalist in the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, one of the most prestigious piano competitions in the world. In 2001, she won the Young Concert Artists International Auditions, which led to her debut at Carnegie Hall. She has also been awarded the Avery Fisher Career Grant, the Gilmore Young Artist Award, and the Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award. Despite her many accomplishments, Noh remains humble and dedicated to her craft. She continues to practice and perform with the same passion and intensity that she had as a young student, and she is always striving to improve and grow as a musician. Her love of music and her commitment to excellence have made her one of the most respected and admired pianists of her generation.
