In Dulci Jubilo Children's Choir is a classical music ensemble that has been captivating audiences with their angelic voices since their founding in 1995. The choir is based in the city of Leipzig, Germany, and is made up of children between the ages of 7 and 18. The ensemble has gained a reputation for their exceptional performances of classical music, and has won numerous awards for their work. The choir was founded by conductor and music educator, Maria Schmidt, who had a vision of creating a children's choir that would be dedicated to performing classical music at the highest level. Schmidt had previously worked as a music teacher in Leipzig, and had noticed a lack of opportunities for children to perform classical music. She decided to start her own choir, and began recruiting children from local schools. The choir's name, In Dulci Jubilo, is Latin for "in sweet rejoicing", and reflects the joy and passion that the children bring to their performances. The choir's repertoire includes a wide range of classical music, from Bach and Mozart to contemporary composers. One of the main members of the choir is soprano soloist, Anna Müller. Müller joined the choir at the age of 10, and quickly became one of its star performers. Her clear, pure voice has been praised by audiences and critics alike, and she has won several awards for her performances. Another key member of the choir is alto soloist, Max Schmidt. Schmidt joined the choir at the age of 8, and has since become known for his rich, warm voice and his ability to convey emotion through his singing. Over the years, In Dulci Jubilo Children's Choir has performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including the Berlin Philharmonic and the Royal Albert Hall in London. One of the choir's most memorable performances was at the opening ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. The choir performed a stirring rendition of the Olympic Hymn, which was broadcast to millions of viewers around the world. In addition to their performances, the choir has also won numerous awards for their work. In 2003, they won the prestigious German Choir Prize, which is awarded to the best choir in Germany. They have also won several international competitions, including the European Youth Choir Competition in 2008. Despite their success, the choir remains committed to their mission of bringing classical music to a wider audience. They regularly perform at local schools and community events, and have even started a program to teach music to underprivileged children in Leipzig.
